Coach Joanna comes from a swimming, running, dance, and gymnastics background. She was a collegiate cheerleader at Trinity University for four years. Joanna started racing triathlons in 2008 after her third son was born and has been coaching since 2011. In addition, Joanna has taught adult and youth swim lessons for many years and founded and coached a youth triathlon team for five years. Joanna coaches all level of athletes from those just starting in endurance sports to elite athletes. She also specializes in swim instruction, stroke analysis, and open water swim coaching. Joanna meets each athlete where they are in the sport and in life. She teaches each of her athletes the importance of finding balance in training, work, and family. Her coaching focuses on both the physical and emotional well-being of each athlete. Coach Joanna dreamed for years about racing in Kona and has now raced the World Championship four times. Based on her journey, she enourages her athletes to set BIG goals and to train smart and diligently each day to make those dreams a reality.
